Review

The uptempo funk jams of Lucio Dalla are in fine form on Dal Vivo: Bologna 2 Settembre 1974. Blending the thick electric piano sounds of Antonello Venditti with the charismatic voice of Dalla, this is some of the finest experimental pop music of the 70's. Dalla's unique voice takes center stage here, his soulful voice and unique scatting is a curious draw. On the other end of the spectrum, there is also some beautiful folk music here that fits into the live scenario perfectly. There are some odd moments (like the sound of things brushing against the recording microphone) that take away from the overall effect, but this is still a fine live album that has a ramshackle appeal that is hard to deny. ~ Bradley Torreano, Rovi
