Notes: The Chambers Brothers had several big hits during my college days. Some were "like psychedelic, man." LOL. But this one was a gospel song, written by Curtiss Mayfield.

Hey, Doc.
Thanks for listening.
Spritual? Me? Nah, but the music can be
good!

You were reading those crazy comments?
Haha!
I was born near Omaha. (Ever heard of a
place called David City?)
There are few rolling hills near there,
but nothing we'd call mountains, eh?
It's pretty flat!
So I was joking with Fallingsta about
the way she imagined Nebraska with lots
of mountains. (^.~)*

You do get around, Doc! Omaha? Did you
eat some good corn-fed beef?
Posted by HowardH on 04/20/2009.
Oh now I know, the Omaha connection,
does it fall on the Iowa side across the
river, we used to hear about leopard
sightings through one of our colleague
who used to commute daily from thereto
Nebraska med. ctr.-his name is Dr. David
Klinkebeill, know him by any chance..?
Posted by bapia1 on 04/20/2009.
Can't say that I do, lol.
It's a big town, Omaha.
(And I haven't lived there since 1956.
OMG 50+ years ago. How old is Dr.
Klinkebeill? He probably wasn't even
born yet!)

David City is on the Nebraska side if
the river, and another ~50 miles west of
Omaha. Used to be farm country, and I
guess there's still a lot of corn -- and
some wheat, too -- grown around there.
And some sorghum, haha! A little
alfalfa.

That first comment was more than A MONTH
AGO, Conchita. So this was 'due' for
another comment from you. Haha. Thanks

good!

Howie I didn't know this song and it
makes me think about people in the
countryside, sitting in the porch,
watching the sun going down, singing
this song peacefully....hmm... such calm
and serenity..... LOVE IT!!
And I l am so glad to hear " tu otro
yo"! (^_^)
Posted by Fallingsta on 03/28/2009.
People on their porches in the mountains
of Nebraska, eh Móni? (^_^) Ahaha!

The image I get is, maybe, a minister
in church (with the choir singing
harmony). I am always suprised when I
hear the line about the train's DIESEL
engine! It seems like it should be an
old STEAM engine.

Jajajjaa , sí, las montañas nevadas
de Nebraska, exacto Howie! (^__^)

I'll be checking your account regularly

songs, including this one.
Good album!
Posted by HowardH on 03/28/2009.
well, I'll have to check it out (Seal's
new CD). I will let you know when I
record a new song. Right now all I have
time for is thinking about the songs I
might sing. Take care - I'll be
listening!!! :)diane

Hola Manuel. Gracias siempre por tus
commentarios.

>> "Como lo has hecho?"
Uhhh, how did I make this?
Is that what you are asking?

Facil. Grabé una vez y despues, canté
otra vez junto con mi grabacion.
I recorded it once, then sang along
with my recording.

You should try it, Manuel.
You'd be good at it!

Yesss!! I knew one day I could have
listened to the Two Howards singing
togheter =) Great harmonies! I know this
song because Bono used to play it live
in late 80's, I'm also sure i've
listened by other artists but I can't
remember. Nice choice, Ciao!
Posted by Heracleum on 02/28/2009.
of course you can't, because you are
forgetting you have a bad memory...
Posted by misspronce on 02/28/2009.
Ciao, Hera. Thanks for listening. Yeah,
this was an easy one for me to try out a
little harmony, cuz it's just those same
two notes again and again at the end of
the phrases.

Bono? Really? Interessante.
Posted by HowardH on 02/28/2009.
Sorry, Lara. I don't remember our
earlier conversation.

(Haha! And I'll bet Hera doesn't
either.)

Nice to meet you Mr. Heracleum. I'll
come listen to your recordng sometime
soon.

(Your name means "hogweed"?
Interesting.)
Posted by HowardH on 03/01/2009.
This song's new to me, as are the
singers, I'm afraid. Anyway, you sang
it ever so well.

Oh, and tell your other twin he did
great, too.
Posted by Conchita on 02/28/2009.
Gracias, mi nueva amiga.
It took me a long second, Conchita, to
figure out what you meant by my "OTHER
twin". Oh yes, of course, you are my
first twin sister. LOL. (^_^)

You ought to click the VIDEOS link,
Conchita, and watch "Time Has Come
Today". It's so representative of The
Chambers Brothers' psychedelic sound,
and of those days in the 70s.

Now I am a split personality. But my
alter-ego sings only about as well as I
do, LOL.
Thanks, Lara, for listening.
Posted by HowardH on 02/26/2009.
"only about as well" means for me : very
very good ...I thought you had to know
...;)
Posted by misspronce on 02/26/2009.
